In this class, we will show off our pets! If you cannot bring in your pet, feel free to bring a picture of your pet. You can even bring in a picture of your dream pet! I will share about my pet and will ask the students questions about their pets. I'll also encourage conversation and question asking between classmates. Color sheets will be available to color before or after class. In this class, we will be targeting the following skills: -Learn to speak and listen. -Learn how to be an audience and introduce themselves. -Learn how to ask inquiry-based questions. -Learn to make connections between student responses. -Practice storytelling. -Learn and use vocabulary. -Use descriptive language. -Say thank you. -Increase confidence.

Hello! Welcome to Outschool! My name is Teacher Tonya. I hold a Bachelor's and Master's in Communicative Disorders and am passionate about early literacy skills. I have 19 years of experience in Speech-Language Pathology and have worked in a variety of settings. For the past 7 years, I have been homeschooling my children, and for the past 3 years, I have been teaching ESL online. I love to teach and I love making learning fun for my students! I try to incorporate hands-on learning as much as possible through a student-centered approach. I encourage literacy and language skills in a variety of ways, such as coloring, storytelling, and modeling. I have been married to my husband for 18 years. We have an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. We also have a dog who will make appearances in Pet Show and Tell. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
