Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this series, we will have a ton of fun learning to use the ProCreate app to create an oil painting from a picture students bring to class of their favorite pet. This can be their pet, someone else's pet, or even their favorite internet pet personality (think grumpy cat.) Students can then pick any outfit of their choice for their pet to wear. This can be a historical figure, a superhero, a villain, ect.*

During the course, students will be encouraged to submit their artwork at key stages. The teacher will provide students with private feedback to help ensure the best results at each stage of the project.

⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This course requires the app ProCreate which can be purchased for $10-13 from the Apple Store. Sadly, ProCreate is not available for Andriod tablets. Please make sure your learner has ProCreate downloaded before the start of class.

Although a pressure-sensitive stylus like the Apple Pencil is recommended for this class, the projects can be accomplished (with a little extra patience) using a finger to draw.

* Pet Portrait Outfit Ideas: Mandalorian, Space Traveler, Super Villain, Game of Thrones, Dogs with Jobs, Star Wars, Favorite Video Game Character, Animal Crossing, Marvel, Wanda Vision.

Lesson 1:
LEARNING the TECHNIQUE by PAINTING A LION
In this project, we will all be painting the same picture of a lion. This lion is the perfect subject to help us learn the technique we will be using to complete our pet portrait.
Lesson 2:
TAKING a GREAT PICTURE of YOUR PET
We are almost ready to get started with painting our own furry friend but before we do, let’s make sure we have the perfect photograph.
Lesson 3:
PAINTING YOUR PETS HEAD
Today we officially start working on the portrait of our furry friend. Let’s take our winning photograph and transform it into a painting of our pets head.
Lesson 4:
PICKING an OUTFIT
Now comes the really creative part…picking our outfit. This is your chance to look into the soul of your pet and figure out what their spirit animal is. Maybe your pet reminds you of a famous historical figure or you think they would be into Star Wars as much as you are?! Or your pet is mischievous and would make a great super villain.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello my Friends,
I primarily teach digital art classes using the app ProCreate.

I am committed to making every learner feel welcome in my class and strive to adjust my teaching style based on the needs of my learners. It's important to me that students completing my classes are happy with the experience they've had. I offer classes that challenge students to create something they are excited to share with their friends and family. In each class, I strive to foster conversation and create opportunities for social interaction... but also respect students who are more introverted in nature and prefer not to be pressured to share.

When I'm not teaching or making art, I like to hike and meditate.
