In this class, we will have a ton of fun learning to use the Procreate app to create an oil painting from a picture students bring to class of their favorite pet. This can be their pet, someone else's pet, or even their favorite internet pet personality (think grumpy cat.) This class is part one in a two-part series. In part one we will paint the head and in part two we will paint the torso and outfit to complete the masterpiece. This class is ideal for students who have no experience with ProCreate as well as those wanting to learn some advanced features. Although artistic skills are an asset, they are not essential for this class which focuses on a smudging technique using the reference photo. ProCreate is an amazing tool for students looking to improve their artistic abilities and produce professional-looking artwork. The process students will learn in creating their painting can be applied to any other portrait painting students may independently undertake in the future. ⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION This course requires the app ProCreate which can be purchased for $10-13 from the Apple Store. Sadly, Procreate is not available for Andriod tablets. Please make sure your learner has ProCreate downloaded before the start of class. Although a pressure-sensitive stylus like the Apple Pencil is recommended for this class, the projects can be accomplished (with a little extra patience) using a finger or a non-electronic stylus to draw. If your learner is serious about ProCreate, I highly recommend getting a pressure-sensitive stylus as it does make a huge difference to the experience. There are affordable third-party stylus' that can be purchased for less than $50 on Amazon that work on a broad range of iPad models (but please check the model number.) Students who are younger than the age restriction for this class are welcome with the expectation that parents will take an active role in helping their learner navigate getting set up at the beginning of class ;)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello my Friends,
I primarily teach digital art classes using the app ProCreate.
I am committed to making every learner feel welcome in my class and strive to adjust my teaching style based on the needs of my learners. It's important to me that students completing my classes are happy with the experience they've had. I offer classes that challenge students to create something they are excited to share with their friends and family. In each class, I strive to foster conversation and create opportunities for social interaction... but also respect students who are more introverted in nature and prefer not to be pressured to share.
When I'm not teaching or making art, I like to hike and meditate.
