Pet Paw Salt Dough Craft & My Pets Secret Life Writing Activity.
In this 2 day class, we will use salt dough to make a keepsake from your pet's paw print. We will also be talking about The Secret Life of Pets and writing a short story about our pets and what we think they do when we aren't watching.

Class Experience
Day one we will start with introducing ourselves and our pets. We will work together by following my step by step demonstration to make salt dough and create our pets paw print keepsake. We will talk about oven safety and clean up our mess, then we will discuss the traits and characteristics of our pets and how to create a fun story with our pets as the main character(s). Students will write a list of their ideas and start on creating their first drafts. The second day we will paint our...
By the end of this two-class series, students will have made a paw print necklace, key-chain, coaster, or plaque for a keepsake of their pet. Students will also have created a short story using their pet as their main character.
After the first day of class Students will be required to bake their salt dough creations for approximately 2hrs (depending on size and instruction received in class). They will also independently finish the rough draft of their story after creating their outline in the first class.
Flour Salt Bowl and large spoon for mixing Measuring cup Cookie sheet Parchment paper Rolling pin or tall circular cup Cup or circle cookie cutter just bigger than your pets paw Acrylic paint Modge podge (optional) Key chain ring or ribbon (optional) Notebook and pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Use of a low temperature oven for 2-4 hours will be required for drying the salt dough.
