In this class, students will join other pet enthusiasts to share their pets, practice public speaking skills, and sharpen both academic and social skills by engaging in weekly letter writing! W.R. Purche wrote: Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong. Whether it's a dog, bird, mouse, horse, lizard, or more, pets become an important part of children's lives. In this class, students will have the chance to share their pet with their peers, both through a class...
Students will develop their presentation skills by sharing information about their pet(s). Students will practice letter-writing skills by learning the parts of a letter and how to address a letter. Students will use writing or typing to create and mail a letter to a classmate.
Students will be expected to write or type at least one letter to a classmate about their pet.
Students will need to bring a pencil and paper to class or be able to make notes on their device. Students will also need supplies to mail a letter after class (required: envelope and stamp/ optional: stickers, markers, picture of pet to include).
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need to share their address with their pen pal in order to send and receive mail. Your address will need to be messaged to the teacher, and I will share it with your student's pen pal.
