In this one time class, students will get creative as they decide what someone else should be for Halloween! Students will write to persuade their special someone to dress as they wish through a spooktacular 5-8 sentence paragraph.
Class experience
One of the best parts of Halloween, other than eating a lot of candy, is dressing up! The excitement of picking out a costume is what children look forward to all year. In this Halloween themed class, students will have the opportunity to pick out a costume for their mom, dad, sister, brother, grandma, grandpa, babysitter, friend, teacher, or anyone they love to spend Halloween with. The students will be able to explain the purpose of opinion and persuasive writing, identify what it means to persuade, write a five to eight sentence paragraph including an opening sentence, concluding sentence, and three supporting details, and practice reading aloud by sharing their writing.
I will supply the graphic organizer prior to class. Students should be prepared with a pencil and an eraser. If they are unable to print the graphic organizer they can come prepared with lined paper.
