Advanced Level
This class will focus on persuasive writing. We will discuss what persuasive writing is and how to format an essay effectively for this type of writing. Students will write a persuasive essay and will be given an opportunity to share their writing with the group. The class schedule will be as follows: Day 1: We will discuss what persuasive writing is. Students will work on a graphic organizer for their essays. We will also talk about thesis statements and how to write them. Students will write a thesis statement for their essays. Day 2: We will discuss the different paragraphs in a persuasive writing essay: introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Students will work on their essays. Day 3: We will review what we have learned about persuasive writing. Students will then have some time to finish their essays. We will end the class with students sharing the essays they have been writing.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of persuasive writing and increase their proficiency in writing a persuasive essay.

Parental Guidance
Students may want to spend time outside of class working on their essays. They should have enough time to write their essays during class, but some students may want extra time outside of class to work on their writing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! So glad you are here! I am excited to be teaching on Outschool. I have taught elementary school for four years, with 1.5 of those years being online. I am currently teaching 6th grade science. I love teaching multiplication, division, fractions, phonics, science, and more! I love connecting with my students and helping them learn. It is very rewarding to see my students progress and grow. I believe that every child has potential, and I love helping them realize their potential.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from BYU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in TESOL K-12 (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages). I also finished my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governor’s University.
I love running, waterskiing, and my dog, Daisy! I also love music and play the piano and the violin.
