Welcome to Persuade! In this class, come and learn all about the Opinion Essay. You have opinions and I want to hear them! Over the 3 days of the class, you will learn about opinions, parts of an opinion essay, and strategies for writing these types of essays. There will be visuals to guide understanding on slides. You and your classmates will vote on a fun topic that usually has a lot of opinions about it (pizza toppings, anyone?) and practice stating your opinion by writing your own opinion essay. Don't worry, we will be practicing together and have some class time for writing. There will be a rubric to follow that will help you keep track of the essay parts. Also, I will be available for questions through messages in case you need help outside of class. Your final artifact will be an essay that you can share in the third class. There will be respectful guidelines and we will discuss how to respectfully discuss opinions before we share. You may choose to read your essay aloud or defend/share the main reasons for your opinion. I ask that you submit your essay in the classroom to share or in a message to me so I can give you feedback using the rubric.
