Class Experience

In this class, we will create and describe characters drawn on a whiteboard. We will practice basic vocabulary in Spanish including but not limited to people, numbers, colors, animals, and clothing. Students will learn to identify and use these basic words in Spanish. As students gain familiarity with the language, they will be able to give input towards the creation of each silly character. No prior Spanish experience is necessary to join this class.

In the past, my students have loved helping to create these characters and watching them be drawn on a whiteboard as they describe them. The simpler the character, the more we are able to remain in the target language, using the drawing to demonstrate the meanings of the words we use. Character complexity can vary based on the students in the class, and it is perfectly ok for some students to have more vocabulary than others, as newer students will learn by example.
