*Please message me to discuss other days/times for this class. Welcome! I am so excited to offer this semester-long, one-on-one English course that is designed specifically for your student. Communication is key in the design for this course. As a licensed English teacher, I am able to design curricula that is grade-appropriate, standard-aligned, and tailored to your learner's interests or needs. Whether your learner is advanced and in need of a challenge or falling behind and in need of significant support, we can discuss and create a curriculum that is right for them. I believe all students deserve a well-rounded education. In each English course, I will include: - Variety of reading materials (eg. articles, novels, short stories, poetry, etc.) - Reading comprehension and analysis strategies and activities - Writing assignments of varying lengths (short response to essays) - Strategies and outlines for writing pieces - Creative and academic writing options - Grade-appropriate vocabulary - Guided and student-led discussion of materials I am a kind, friendly, and energetic educator. I love to use humor in my classes, and I enjoy taking some time to get to know the students I work with. I believe that one of the most important aspects of being an educator is boosting the confidence of my students. I will be sure to emphasize the strengths of your learner, and I will support and encourage them while we work to improve their weaker areas. I would like to meet with students at least 3 days per week. I will assign reading and writing homework between class sessions. Your input is necessary when it comes to designing this course for your learner. While communicating about this class, I would like to know: - Your learner's reading and writing strengths - Areas in which you feel your learner needs to grow - Writing samples - Your learner's interests and hobbies - Your learner's feelings toward reading and writing - The grade level of your learner Please reach out to me! I would be happy to talk about the endless possibilities that this course can offer you and your learner. **Please ensure that the schedule you agree to will be something that your learner can consistently attend. I can only reschedule up to THREE sessions per semester.**
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parents and teacher will discuss parental guidance when texts are chosen for the course.
Please see the external resources listed for this course. Students will not need accounts for student games like Blooket, Kahoot, or Quizlet. It is easiest if students complete their work on Google Docs, though I am open to other options. Google allows student and teachers to work together on the same document, which is helpful. Feedback is easy to provide via Google Docs. I may also screen-share during class to show students Google Docs or Slides.
Supply List
Because I will design this course according to your learner's grade-level, needs, and interests, we will discuss the necessary materials once a course outline is created. Students will need copies of the novels that they will read throughout the semester. Students will need a notebook and pencils.

I started on Outschool in the fall of 2022, and I have enjoyed every minute of working with students and parents through this platform. I have been designing my own curricula for 6 years.
