Writing the college application essay is one of the first steps toward your exciting journey to college. This course will give you an introduction to what colleges are looking for as well as hearing from admissions officers (via video). After the one time class, students will be able to send over a rough draft and receive comments and edits to help create the strong, successful college essay they need. During the class, we will talk a bit about what colleges are looking for and what the students' plans are. We will look at the Common Application website and review the topic choices. Before the course, students will be asked to read sample essays and look at what the samples did well and what they might want to work on. We will then hear from college admissions officers and their take on the sample essays. Before ending the class, students will be given information on how to share a rough draft with me. The rough drafts will be edited, and then sent back to the students. We can work on the essay together over the next month or so to ensure the student feels comfortable with the essay he/she will be sharing with colleges
