In this ongoing class, I will create personalized lessons for your child based on your preferences. Students may choose to work on writing, spelling, phonics, grammar, or ESL. Each 30 minute lesson includes a warm-up, main lesson, and game.

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this ongoing class I will create personalized lessons based on the topics you want your student to practice. I am happy to teach writing, spelling, grammar, phonics, and ESL. Some examples of what I can work on with your student are: reading and spelling CVC and CVCe words, spelling tips and tricks, phonemic awareness, parts of speech, writing sentences and paragraphs, and grammar skills. In my classroom I usually teach using google slides that I create. With this class I will add props, flashcards, whiteboard, and whatever else I may need for interesting lessons. I am a very patient and thorough teacher. I allow students time to think through questions before I simply offer up an answer. I prefer to guide students to discover the answers on their own with as much assistance as they need to get there. As a homeschool mom, I "tutored" my own children for 26 years and find this to be my preferred way to teach. It's amazing the progress that can be made in a one-on-one class setting. I enjoy watching kids learn, progress, and gain confidence in themselves. Howdy from East Tennessee! I’m Shelley Greaney, and I love teaching on Outschool. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University, majoring in journalism with a minor in English. I'm a mother of six, grandmother of five, and I home schooled all of my children for a total of 26 years. I began teaching online five years ago as an ESL teacher and then started nutrition and grammar classes on Outschool. I also taught as a volunteer for elementary-aged children for ten years.
As a true grammar nerd, I offer foundational grammar classes for grades one, two, and three. The Great Grammar Adventure, a 29-week ongoing class, covers over a semester’s worth of grammar topics with two writing units, as well. I'm always looking for ways to make grammar more interesting for students.
I also teach First Grade Curriculum for K-1st graders. This class meets three times per week and covers a variety of topics including phonics, math, language arts, telling time on an analog clock, reading a calendar, social skills, and so much more. Students enjoy a new theme every week, worksheets to reinforce what we learn in class, and Show & Tell at the end of every class.
I believe learning should always be engaging, fun, and practical, and I work very hard to make sure each student, regardless of level, feels successful in class. I incorporate fun-themed slides, open-ended questions, scaffolding, and discussion to keep kids interested and engaged in class. I believe in letting kids share and participate in class, while maintaining an organized learning atmosphere. Lots of smiles and laughter are welcome in my classroom every day.
