As a certified K-5 teacher with over 30 years experience I have helped many students unlock the joy of reading. Through systematic, sequenced instruction I can help them make sense of phonics and learn to decode any text. In addition to choosing engaging fiction and nonfiction books tailored to your child's level and interests, I will incorporate games, rhymes, songs, videos and plenty of positive reinforcement to keep them interested and build their confidence.  Learning to decode words and make sense of what they are reading is key, but believing in yourself and having an enthusiasm for learning are also important factors in becoming a successful reader, especially for students who have been struggling. 

1-1 instruction gives me the opportunity to get to know your child over time and really personalize their instruction based on their learning styles, needs, interests and growth over time.
