Description
Class Experience
This class meets common core standards for writing for grades 3-5. "Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences."
I love working with young writers and teaching them how to overcome their fear of a blank page. As an elementary school teacher for over 10 years, I have a lot of experience teaching writing. I love the writer's workshop format where students are guided to creating their best work and do not rely on a teacher to tell them whether or not it is "good."
Students will need to complete writing outside of class time.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Writing will be assessed with a rubric reflecting grade level standards.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
