Class Experience
It is important to teach Financial Literacy early in life. In this class, your student will learn important, age-appropriate budgeting skills that will enhance his/her financial literacy acumen now and set a knowledge base for future financial literacy classes. The activities used in the weekly lessons to teach these skills encourage research and critical thinking. Your student will be taught to do research and think for his/herself while applying budgeting skills. Graded assignments/exams are available upon request. This is a comprehensive, 5 week class. Class Syllabus: *Each weekly class follows this structure: pre-recorded instructor lesson video; student activity packet; weekly discussion topic. Student activity packets include writing prompts and research. Short videos, articles, infographics, and interactive games will also be provided as appropriate for supplemental instruction. Instruction and collaboration will occur through Flipgrid. Week 1: 3.1 What is a Budget? 3.2 Needs vs. Wants Week 2: 3.3 How do You Budget? Week 3: Why We Pay Taxes Week 4: Case Study: Let’s Make a Budget!
