Students will learn about the following about the periodic table: history and development properties uses structure and organization After background is explained, will create a superhero or villain based on the properties of an element of their choosing. I will provide background information on the first 20 elements and discuss their importance for the sustainment of life. I will give direct instruction with Google slides and have ensure that students are engaged by having a robust class discussion. A review game will be played after our discussion. Instructions will be given to students to create a superhero or villian.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic information about the periodic table of elements. They will be introduced to the basic information given for the elements in most periodic tables: the name, symbol, atomic number, and atomic mass for each element. Students will focus on the first 20 elements.

My name is Kelly and I've been a science teacher for over 20 years.
I have B.A. in Education and a Masters Degree in science education.
Although the bulk of my experience has been middle school, I've taught from Kindergarten through 9th grade.
I've enjoyed teaching the following disciplines:
physics, chemistry, biology, environmental, geology, Earth and astronomy.
