What's included

5 live meetings
3 hrs 20 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Extra resources and homework will be offered for practice on the classroom page at the end of each session. Will be checked by request of parent.
Assessment
An assessment will be offered by request of parent at the start and end of session, to show child's growth. These will be take home assignments. Not required by any student.
Grading
Grades will be offered by parent's request based on participation, optional homework turned in, and assessments completed. The grade will not play a role for the class, purely for the parent or school's knowledge.

Class Experience

In this class we will go over a variety of perimeter, area, and measurement skills. The schedule can be found within the syllabus.

This class has the same style format as my 9 week math courses as well as my 5 week fraction courses. I try to keep the same format so that there are no surprises, and students can get used to a routine with Math.

The topics we will cover are measurement conversions (chart will be given), perimeter of triangles, parallelograms, and composite figures, and area of triangles, parallelograms, and composite figures. We will be discussing what makes a composite figure, what a parallelogram is, and how knowing a triangle can help us with solving composite figure answers,

The first 10-15 minutes of class is a mini lesson going over the steps to solving these types of problems. Using examples, going step by step, labeling, and showing any helpful hints for solving as easily as possible. The next 15-20 minutes are practice problems using a jeopardy board style format so learners get to choose exactly what types of problems they want to practice. Each learner will get time to work on problem, and then I will go over problem entirely, before moving on to next question. The last 10 minutes will be a game of Kahot for individual practice. Resources and optional homework will be posted at the end of each class for practice. Optional assessments can be sent out by request of parent to see child's growth.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the differences between perimeter and area and how the equations change with different types of geometry shapes and composite figures.
