Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Learners will learn what Performance Art is, what forms it can take, recreate some examples before creating their own piece. They will also learn about 4 Performance Artists and discover many more as they work collobarately to research the clues each week.

I studied Performance Art on my Performing Arts degree course, created several pieces and featured it in my final dissertation piece.

I am a Teaching Artist who has transferred my skills and years of experience to supporting young people. I have 15+ years experience teaching Drama (and some Music and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part time and I have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16.

I have also produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays), including some I have written myself.

As a professional actress I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties,  nurseries and schools. I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voice Over work.

Homework is a big part of the course as learners will gain valuable skills and understanding from completing the weekly set tasks, and uploading them to the online classroom gallery for viewing and evaluating. At the end of the course learners will have many tips and idea starters to go on to create even more Performance Art pieces of their own.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Weekly feedback will be given from the teacher and fellow learners via the helpful acronym SEEMS, to tasks uploaded each week.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Like many forms of art some artists have created pieces that aren't suitable for younger learners, therefore this is a course specifically aimed at older learners and Mrs. T will only introduce and demo age appropriate material.
