Class Experience
This is a hands on cooking class, so get ready to get cooking! First, students will learn proper kitchen vocabulary and measuring techniques. Second, we will apply these newly learned skills and we will make Panzerotti together. Students should be prepared to get a bit messy as we will be cooking. Finally, while the Panzerottis are cooking, we will discuss various substitutions we could make, kitchen safety and ways we could serve these. The class is structured to be very...
Students will improve their measuring skills, will learn terminology used in baking/cooking to enhance their cooking techniques. Students will bake Panzerotti's during class. If time allows, we will learn about kitchen safety.
I have been baking and cooking all of my life! I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I also teach Food and Nutrition in an Ontario High School and have taught many young people how to bake this recipe successfully. I love to share my joy of baking and cooking with students and to see their confidence in the kitchen grow!
No homework unless they want to make them again! Students will have to clean up and wash their dishes after class.
I will post the recipe 24 hours before class begins. However, students will need access to: flour, white sugar, yeast, salt, oil, pizza sauce, pizza toppings (pepperoni, vegetables, cheese, etc...) measuring spoons, measuring cups, mixing bowls, rolling pin, oven, cookie sheet, oven mitts. If they are adding vegetables to their fillings, I would recommend having them cooked ahead of time as there really is not time to do this during class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be given informal, anecdotal comments during and after the cooking class.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is a hands on cooking class so students might need help using a rolling pin, cheese grater, knife and oven depending on their age and cooking ability.
