Description

Class Experience

*Poetry will be taught using parts of speech and literary devices.
*The class will start with introductions. We will use adjectives and metaphors to describe ourselves.
*Next we will discuss parts of speech and literary devices to make sure everyone has a general understanding.
*There will be a poem template to get warmed up.
*We will share what we have and discuss how to use what we know about the reader to engage an audience.
*Class will be interactive and question led.

This class is taught in English.

Students will learn metaphors, similes, personification, and other literary devices in order to communicate on and off paper. Better poetry is the goal, but it will help in all aspects of communication.

I have been performing spoken word for 5 years and have published 2 books of poetry.

Students will need paper and pencil with eraser. A printer will be handy, but not necessary.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
