US Grade 3 - 6
I will teach this class each week by starting off with some quick questions to get us recalling crucial details of each meeting's assigned chapters. Afterward, we will discuss figurative language, inferencing, and predictions, and the best part- what we think of what we are reading! Learners are encouraged to interact and engage with the text any way that suits them, though I will provide some tools and optional assignments to get the discussion flowing. Some options for assignments include: writing a story or article about an event of the book, drawing a picture of something that stuck out, writing notes and annotating the text, and writing a review/critical view of what the characters did and what the reader would have done instead. The weekly reading assignments are as follows: Week 1: Chapters 1-6 Week 2: Chapters 7-12 Week 3: Chapters 13-18 Week 4- Chapters 19-23
Learning Goals
Students will build on their reading comprehension, learn to look at literature with a critical eye, and have fun in the process!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Abbie! I finished my master's degree in library science from Drexel University in September 2023; I also hold a BA in English and journalism from the University of Delaware; some of my favorite coursework outside of my major were classes in other forms of writing, literature, art history, performing arts, and social sciences. When I am not in class, you can find me reading anything I can get my hands on and watching LOTS of Netflix. I look forward to talking to you all more!
