Each week, this ongoing course will explore a different unsung hero. The unsung heroes discussed will be from many different backgrounds and from all parts of the world. Howard Zinn wrote, "Our country is full of heroic people who are not presidents or military leaders or Wall Street wizards, but who are doing something to keep alive the spirit of resistance to injustice and war. Those are the types of people that this course aims to honor. The class is geared towards middle school students. The class will include lecture and discussions and some activities when appropriate. The lecture will be based on the unsung hero's background and accomplishments and how they fit into history. The activities and discussion will focus on making the stories personal and empathy building. 2021 Schedule Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month May 10 - 14, 2021 Protect Kaho'olawe Ohana May 17-21, 2021 Su Ko Lee May 24-28, 2021 Haing S.
