Based on Historian Howard Zinn's Unsung Heroes, this ongoing course will explore different individuals who are usually overlooked in text books, but their accomplishments have impacted history just the same. During May, we will focus on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Each week, this ongoing course will explore a different unsung hero. The unsung heroes discussed will be from many different backgrounds and from all parts of the world. Howard Zinn wrote, "Our country is full of heroic people who are not presidents or military leaders or Wall Street wizards, but who are doing something to keep alive the spirit of resistance to injustice and war. Those are the types of people that this course aims to honor. The class is geared towards middle school students. The class will include lecture and discussions and some activities when appropriate. The lecture will be based on the unsung hero's background and accomplishments and how they fit into history.
