Class Experience

I will teach the foundations of pitch (high and low) using vocal exploration. Also exploring different tempos (slow and fast) through movement. The class will begin with a Penguin action song which adds a new movement with each verse. This song is called 'Have you ever had a Penguin come to tea'?
We will then make some Penguin soup and keep a steady beat chopping ingredients with their pretend chopping board, children giving ideas what they would like to add. We will then trace the pitch on the screen following the direction of the snowball that 'Pablo Penguin' throws and change our voices accordingly.
We will then explore different movements a Penguin can make and then have free time to move to a classical piece of music called 'March of the Penguins'.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Thank you for viewing my profile. I live in Derbyshire in the UK with my husband, two teenagers and two very lively dogs! I love being creative in my approach to teaching music and love playing variety of instruments including Djembe drum, Samba band, Ukulele, Flute & Piano and Junk percussion!
I have been teaching whole class music in primary or elementary schools for the past 14 years and also have a few 1:1 pupils I teach online. I love the way music crosses all barriers, boosts our self esteem, helps us to express our emotions and creativity. Music should never be boring so I like to teach in a fun and engaging way.

I have a Trinity College London Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators.
I teach 1:1 classes in Ukulele, Flute & Piano (Up to grade 3). I also teach group African drum and Junk percussion lessons and early years music.
