What's included

30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this one-time class, young ocean biologists will learn about the penguin. What do you already know about them? What new things will your young biologist learn? We will learn more about their habitat, what they eat, what makes this bird unique, & more! You will hear a story about a real life penguin and man who became friends! We will create a very cute Play-Doh penguin. I go step by step so even young artists can be successful! Don't forget to bring a few cartons of Play-Doh & child-safe knife to class! I use colorful slides, a combination of lecture and interactive teaching, movement, and a few brief video clips. Your marine explorer will have an opportunity to tell what they know or see at the beginning of class and many opportunities to interact all throughout class. Shy learners are included by name and encouraged to share but will never be forced to talk. You will receive a coloring sheet as well. This can be completed after class for extension & fun. Or students without Play-Doh can color it while others create the Play-Doh penguin. Please bring 3 Play-Doh colors as well as a Play-Doh knife, or child safe knife. ________________________________________________________________________________ Teacher Lisa's Classroom Rules: ○ Have Fun! Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Georgia
Fun, positive, and encouraging! That’s what I hear from parents and students alike that take classes with me. I have an extensive background in musical theatre and acting so it’s only natural to bring that side of my personality to teaching. Learning should be exciting and fun. My classroom is colorful, engaging, and we will have so much fun together! My motto is: If I love teaching, my students love learning!
I love singing, acting, science, animals, volunteering in my community, crafting classroom props and creating up-cycled crafts. Just to name a few! I have been
married 25 years and we have 2 teen children and 3 dogs.
Education background:
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I focused on Reading Education and Learning Disabilities in graduate school at UGA. I also have a 120 hour TESOL certificate for teaching ESL classes.
I currently teach phonics, beginning reading and comprehension, Play-Doh science classes, ESL, and several socialization and fun classes to students around the world. So many parents have told me their student works even harder practicing reading, phonics and speaking English in my ESL classes because of my motivation. Positive teaching methods that incorporate applicable skills propel my students to find their own inward motivation and exhibit great success. There’s no higher compliment for a teacher than knowing your student works to improve themselves because they love you and your class. Hard work, kindness, genuine love & a passion for teaching each student is the key to making a lasting impression on learners.
Now let’s get started! Engaging and exciting classes await your learner. See you in the classroom!
