This on-going class meets once a week. Students will sketch birds using basic shapes and shading techniques. Students will learn art concepts including soft strokes, values, proportions, shading and blending.

Class Experience

This class is an ongoing format. Students will sketch a new bird every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the series any week. Prior attendance and knowledge of the subject is not required to attend.

Each class will follow the step-by-step process:

1. They will concentrate on rendering the basic shapes of an animal in line only, then proceed to discover the various relationships between the lines, shapes and proportions of the...

Students will sketch realistic animals using basic shapes and shading techniques. They will gain the basic knowledge about the approach and knowledge about the anatomy of each species. This will train beginners to develop observational drawing skills on the characteristics of different animals.

Paper
Pencil (a variety of graphite pencils recommended, but not mandatory)
Eraser
Blending tools: Toilet paper, tissue, Q-tips or blending art tools

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
