Description
Class Experience
In this course, we will be focusing on letter writing skills as well as other writing skills while getting to know students from around the world. Each student will have a PenPal that they will write letters to each week. The letters will include topics about where you live (not city/town specific for safety reasons), weather, surroundings, hobbies, interests, and any facts that you want to share about you. Every class, students will bring the letters to class that they wrote and we will...
Students will improve their letter writing skills and writing skills in general such as grammar, format, context, and flow while learning about other students and respectfully providing positive feedback as well as constructive criticism in a way to help strengthen the writing skills of others.
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and have taught in a public school setting. I have worked with students in all grade levels from different parts of the world in reading and writing and I am confident in helping students build writing skills while having organized group discussions and providing feedback to their peers.
Students will individually be writing a letter to a PenPal for homework. The format will be introduced at the beginning of the first class. Each letter will follow this format. Students are encouraged to discuss their personal interests and hobbies as well as asking questions for the reader to answer in following letters. Students will be expected to write/type a page and email to me before the next class begins so that I am able to screen share the letter for their PenPals to read during class.
Word Document to be able to type and send paper, Pencil/Paper to take notes.
Learner progress in assessed by independent feedback from the teacher- I will add remarks to the letters and send them via class emails.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are able to review the student's work before sending it to the teacher.
Powerpoint will be used during class.
