US Grade 4 - 6
In this one time course, students will learn how to use order of operation to solve math problems. We will be using P.E.M.D.A.S. to help us understand which comes first when solving a problem. P.E.M.D.A.S. stands for: Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, and Subtract. To start class, we will introduce ourselves to each other and answer one icebreaker question. We will then look at the powerpoint that was made just for this class. During the powerpoint, we will have several math problems that we will work together to solve. Students will be encouraged to write down what each letter in P.E.M.D.A.S. represents. After the power point is over, we will then solve several math problems together, using the white board function on the platform. To finish class, we will play P.E.M.D.A.S. BINGO. Each student will be given several BINGO boards. On this board will be several problems. Students will have to solve the problem and write the answer in the squares. I will then say a number (that is picked from the hat) and students will need to find the problem that has that answer. They will need markers to mark off their board. In class, I love to make learning fun and strive to make each class fun and interactive. I have over 17 years of teaching experience. During that time, I taught and tutored several students in math. I also have my Elementary and Early Childhood Bachelors degree.
