Class Experience

This class uses a full curriculum to cover science, social studies, LA, math, writing, art, music & drama. If using this as a Kindergarten curriculum you should add an additional reading class. If using this as a Pre-K year it is sufficient on it's own.

My teaching style is to provide a fun & welcoming place to learn! All students are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, and interact with each other. Making friends, enjoying "school" and developing a love of learning is always an essential goal. Each unit includes: a literature selection, math activities, science and social studies activities, letter recognition activities, handwriting activities, reading workshop, writing workshop, vocabulary words, sight words, and art, music, and drama activities. I will target the activities most important to do together and certain activities will be suggested for days we don't meet and optional activities if you'd like to do more. All student materials must be purchased and will be enough for the full year.

Pre-requisite skills are: Interested in being read to; Able to converse about what is being read; Able to hold a pencil & Has a beginning interest in sounds and letters. If students are not ready for handwriting practice, activities can be differentiated for making letters with play-doh or stickers, etc.

This is part 4 which is 4 weeks out of the total 30 week year. We will cover 3 letter units & a special February Celebration unit. The February Celebration Unit will include the read aloud "The Biggest Valentine" and the activities will include topics of love, Presidents Day, and African American History. Our 3 letter units will include: B -- Blueberries for Sal, R - Rain, & N - Night in the Country.

When approaching part 5 it will be posted as a private section first to allow everyone in part 4 the first chance to enroll together.
