Mastery Evaluation
1 hour per week. The student will not be required to hand anything in. However, they will be encouraged to send me their final copy with the grade they give themselves after they use the rubric to self-grade their final product.
Grading
The student can self-grade him/herself with the rubric if he/she chooses to do so.

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Hello! There are 4 pre-recorded videos. Each video is 10 minutes or less, and the student will be able to move through the course quickly. The student will learn how to write a well-organized paragraph and how to incorporate descriptive language (using imagery) within their paragraph. 

The student will be challenged to write a paragraph so enticing to the reader, that the reader will have to go out, buy the ingredients, and make the peanut butter and jelly sandwich exactly as the student has described.
Learning Goals
The student will learn how to write a well-organized paragraph with topic sentence, supporting details, wrap-up sentence, and transitions.
The student will learn how to use descriptive writing, such as the use of imagery and "descriptive verbs," within their paragraph.

Lesson 1:
Read and critique a GOOD paragraph
 I will read a GOOD paragraph to the student, and I will critique it. 
I will point out the topic sentence, supporting details, transitions, and wrap-up sentence.
I will point out the descriptive language used within the paragraph.

Read and critique a BETTER paragraph
 I will read a BETTER paragraph to the student, and I will critique it. 
I will point out the topic sentence, supporting details, transitions, and wrap-up sentence.
I will point out the descriptive language used within the paragraph.
I will point out what makes this paragraph BETTER than the first one. (More descriptive language, higher use of vocabulary, sentence structure.)

 I will read the BEST paragraph to the student, and I will critique it.

Grade your essay using a rubric
 Student will be shown how to use the attached rubric to grade their paragraph.
Student will be encouraged to send me their best paragraph along with their grade (not required), and I will respond with a comment or two. 
Student will be encouraged to read their paragraph to friends and family members.

Pre-Requisites
The student should be able to write complete sentences. The student should show good use of punctuation and capitalization.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
