Welcome!! In this exciting one-time class, we will focus on flexing our creative muscles while successfully drawing and sharing fascinating facts about our fuzzy friends! I will demonstrate how to draw live with a document camera so students can see the guide up close. We will begin with simple shapes and then build on the basics with a step-by-step process. No skill level is required for this class because we will focus on creative expression! Most students prefer to focus on drawing skills and complete most coloring after class time, so this is where we will focus most of our attention. Each student works at their own pace. During class, students are encouraged to share their masterpieces but it's not required. When instructions are done students will also be able to chat with other classmates. Students may momentarily be on mute during instructions because we want to ensure every student has a chance to listen to the full lesson. The teacher will constantly be checking in on students encouraging them, and looking for thumbs up and smiles. They can raise their hand at any time for questions and comments. We will share a few fun animal jokes and cute cat clips while learning are color and as time permits. Please share your student’s masterpiece to my teacher's page because parents and fellow students love to be inspired by all the wonderful artwork. No kitten around, this is going to be an amazing art adventure Can’t wait to see you soon! :D

Supply List
Students should bring paper for their masterpieces, a pencil with an eraser and anything to add color with such as colored pencils, markers and crayons. An eager attitude and a Big Imagination!

😊Hi, welcome art friends! I am Mrs. Roxy ( Rosanna V. Phillips) I am an artist, private art instructor, and long-time Homeschool Teacher. I am a 5-star rated Outschool Educator who has taught over several thousand learners since joining Outschool in 2020. I strive to provide a positive, encouraging, and empowering environment where my art friends can learn to unlock their secret creative potential! I am a Homeschool mom of three amazing kids ( plus a fur mom to many persnickety pets; including adorable pound puppies and three rescue fuzz ball cats!)
I love studying art at museums. Some of my favorite museums include; the Louvre, the world's largest art museum in Paris, France, and is best known for being the home of the Mona Lisa. A close tie for second place is the Ningxia Museum in China. And finally, near and dear to my heart is the famous Getty Museum, in Southern California where I currently reside with with my husband, three cute kids, and all our crazy fluffy fur babies that we rescued, so far.
As a full-time dedicated professional artist and art educator here on Outschool, I am passionate about offering my unique perspectives to guide young art friends to discover their creative journey. I am highly experienced in the areas of illustration, anime, hyperrealism, and design. I use this unique background to inspire my art friends to add highly creative twists that create awe-inspiring larger-than-life art pieces!
My areas of expertise that I love to focus on are Cultivating Creativity/Resourcefulness, Thinking like an Artist, and Divergent thinking. According to recent studies, the creative process of making art sharpens problem-solving and critical thinking skills, the ability to focus, and much more. Studies also show people who make any type of art including sketching are less stressed. Researchers liken creating art to exercise for the brain, similar to how physical exercise aids the body, creating art helps to keep the mind sharp! In other words, Art makes us happy, smart, and great problem solvers!
I am so excited to teach creative expression through various forms of art and to connect learners through exciting sociable art clubs.
