This workshop will be a fun literary journey through reading, writing and research using animal themes. Each learner will participate in each section of the following: 1. Research Project: Animal Themed- with Amy During this 4 week program the learners will walk through the research process. Denise has been a veterinary technician for 30 years and is passionate about pets, both large and small! She has a Master’s degree in Education and enjoys teaching both kids and adults. She has been teaching for 10+ years at a local community college in veterinary assistant programs, equine studies at a private university and also has taught in the Kids on Campus and Excursions in Learning Program. Denise is the founder of the Future Vet and Animal Science Academy, an organization on Outschool. At home Denise’s family has a variety of pets including; horses, goats, chickens and 3 indoor cats. Amy loves teaching about animals. She has a degree in education and have taught in the school system. Her passion for animals led her into veterinary medicine and was a vet technician for an equine practice. Amy is also a published author! Recently she has entered into the canine rehab field where she helps dogs recover from injuries and surgeries through hydrotherapy. In her extra time, she enjoys training feral mustang horses and competing in dog agility trials. Valerie has been in the education field for over 15 years! She adores having fun with learning; and believes excitement for education is necessary and contagious! She has had the joy of working virtually for many teaching programs in the US and in China! She has a passion for encouraging learners to find joy in all forms of learning; and loves to bring excitement and joy through the virtual online platform! Valerie has an exciting energy for learners; and patience! She believes every learner has a gift and a right to thrive! Valerie holds a masters in reading and language arts; TEFL; along with 10 years classroom teaching experience. Learners will have assignments from each section including a creative writing assignment, approximately 70 pages of reading, and a small research assignment each week.
A Wolf Called Romeo by Nick Jans, writing supplies,
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
The book in this book club does contain discussion of death of animals and how some people survive by hunting.
