Learners will be taught to manipulate pattern blocks to make different objects. We will build an alligator, train, and flower, for example. Learners will be able to make their own creation at the end of class. I will identify the names and attributes of each shape, and ask that learners practice the names with me. Students should be able to count objects to ten. We will work together to build the first picture, and then I will gradually release responsibility to the learner. We will talk about other ways to use the pattern blocks. Week 1 1/3: transportation Week 2 1/10: animals Week 3 1/17: things we see in nature Week 4 1/24: letters in the alphabet

Parents may need to cut out pattern blocks prior to class.
