In this introductory level course we will learn how to color, blend, and achieve gorgeous effects using oil or chalk pastels. No prior art experience is required outside of very basic drawing and coloring skills. This is a flexible schedule course and there are no live meetings. After taking art courses at the college level, I have gone on to teach art to both children and adults in professional and private settings. I absolutely love all art forms and I can't wait to share that passion with my students!
Students will need: -An art space that is allowed to get messy! -Set of at least 24 pastels in various colors. I prefer oil pastels, but chalk pastels may be less messy for younger students. Expensive pastels are not necessary! -Art paper that is 11x14 or larger. I use a Canson Mixed Media art pad. - Optional: Blending stubs. These can be found near the drawing supplies in any craft store for less than $5. Many artists will use fingers or paper towels to blend, but this is a nice option for those who prefer more controlled blending. -Paper towel or baby wipes for cleaning hands between colors.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students of all ages and abilities are welcome in my classroom! Younger students or those with learning or physical needs may require adult assistance. Please contact me directly if you have a specific concern or need learner accommodations.
