Students will study the villanelle form of poetry, reflect on an example of this style, and try their hand at writing their very own villanelle poem. This is an opportunity to develop your creative writing skills.
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Students will be learning the villanelle poetry form. An example poem will be provided with an opportunity for reflection. The concepts of repetition, quatrain, tercet, rhyme scheme and passion will be covered. Students will reflect on the example poem entitled If I Could Tell You by WH Auden. This poem was written after WWII and focuses on the uncertainty of the world during this time period. We will reflect on the style and content of this poem. We will be utilizing Canvas and Google...
Students will improve their understanding of the Villanelle poem. Students will work on speaking and listening through the sharing of poetry.
