Teacher is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator and tester observer with Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has trained and certified five therapy dogs of her own. Some tricks are not recommended for older or arthritic dogs. Also, dogs do not learn at the same pace and some tricks are more suited for certain breeds.
None, but learners will need to continue practicing the tricks with their dogs 10 to 15 minutes per day. They must practice 5 out of 5 times correctly for each trick.
Dog training treats, leash, dog, small pieces of meat or cheese, clicker (optional) and a bell.
Informal observation. 5 out of 5 behaviors correct.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Dogs are unpredictable and may not all learn at the same rate. Some dogs may not be able to due certain tricks due to age and size. Also, space is needed to do tricks. Dogs are recommended to be able to sit and be at least 4 months old.
Optional: 50 Games to Play with Your Dog, Suellen Dainty.
