Beginner Spanish Lessons for Kids Welcome to Pasitos1! This engaging ONGOING Beginner Spanish class, designed for young learners who are NEW to Spanish, meets twice a week. Class is led by a native Spanish speaking teacher. Throughout each session, we focus on essential language skills and cultural exposure. The class incorporates a variety of activities, with key routines including greetings, interactive calendar exploration, and discussions about weather. We meet twice a week so that means twice the practice and twice the fun. The first class of the week involves introducing the topic with vocabulary. The second class of the week is practice of what we learned. Handouts will be provided for classes and as well as additional activities for practice outside of class. Topics Covered include: Greetings, introductions, weather, days of the week, emotions, colours, commands, numbers 1-10, action verbs, question words Check out the topics we will cover below: Week 1 - Unit 1: La Escuela Week 2 - Unit 2: Las Estaciones: El Invierno Week 3 - Unit 3: Mi Plato de Comida Week 4 - Unit 4: Transporte Week 5 - Unit 5 Las Estaciones: La Primavera Week 6 - Unit 6 Accesorios Week 7 - Unit 7: La Familia Week 8 - Unit 8: Las Estaciones: El Verano Week 9 - Unit 9: Lugares Week 10 - Unit 10: La Casa **some of these topics may require more than a week to cover, and topics may be adjusted based on the interests learners may have. About Pasitos 1 - Curriculum: The Standards for Foreign Language Learning have guided the development of this class. The National Standards for Foreign Language Learning, published in 1996 by ACTFL, guides preschool and elementary Spanish teachers, defining essential learning objectives for North American classrooms. LANGUAGE USE: This class is designed to engage learners 4-6 years in age in Spanish. It is not a FULL immersion class. English is used for clarification and to ease some learners but we strive to use Spanish at all times. MUTING POLICY: Participation is always encouraged. My preference is to have learners unmuted, however there may be instances when learners need to be muted due to the background noise or in order to hear other learners share. CLASS EXPECTATIONS: Learners will be asked to raise their hands to ask a question or before sharing. I may also call on each learner and may do so in order that I see them on my screen. CLASS CANCELLATIONS: If a class has not met the minimum number of enrolments, it may be canceled. A message will be sent 24 hours before the class to advise. ACTIVITIES: Some activities may require a handout that will be sent prior to class, paper, crayons, props like a favourite toy, play dough, etc.
