Description
Class Experience
* Students will practice and identify basic parts of speech through review by verbally talking about definitions and examples of the 8 parts of speech, then using that list in a Mad Lib. * Students will experiment with word substitution by completing a Mad Lib as a class. * Students will increase hand dexterity by learning how to manipulate pipe-cleaners, and creating teddy bears that are three-dimensional. *Students will use music to help them understand how parts of speech are used in a sentence
Materials: *Pipe cleaners- Students can choose any colors they want. I will be using brown for most of it, and light brown for the nose and inside of the ears. A handful of each color should do it. *Small googly eyes- Sometimes at Dollar Tree for 1.00 *Glue- With parental permission, they can use hot glue and glue sticks or what is called tacky glue. It is safe to use, and It holds a little better than traditional white glue. Usually only a few dollars at Walmart or Amazon. However, I do encourage the decision to use hot glue. Some parts have a very hard time staying together without it. (parental guidance) *pencil
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
scissors, glue, and/or glue gun with sticks should have parental guidance.
