1 hour per week. Learners will need to finish the work that they were working on in class that day in their own time if they did not finish it during class time. They can either upload a screenshot or a document to the classroom, or show their work in person at the start of the next class. Each class recording will be made available so that learners who need to can review the lesson from each day before moving on to the next day.Assessment
At the end of this 8-week course, I will issue Certificates of Competencies to learners who have demonstrated understanding of the 8 Parts of Speech.Class Experience
We will meet once per week over 8 weeks to learn the 8 parts of speech in depth. In my experience, these parts of my English Language Arts lessons receive the most amount of confused looks, so I have decided to teach them in an intensive course so as to really cement these skills in the minds of my learners in order to provide a solid foundation for learning English, whether they are a native English speaker, or whether they are learning English as a second language, or as a foreign language; The same rules apply: Day 1: Nouns - Abstract - Concrete - Proper - Common - Singular - Plural Day 2: Pronouns - Personal - Reflexive - Indefinite - Relative - Possessive - Demonstrative - Interrogative Day 3: Verbs - Action verbs - Linking verbs - Helping verbs Day 4: Adjectives - Descriptive - Articles - Demonstrative - Possessive - Indefinite - Questioning - Order - Punctuation Day 5: Adverbs - How - When - Where - Why - Under what conditions - To what degree - Conjunctive Adverbs - Adverb prepositional phrase - Adverb infinitive phrase - Adverb-dependent clause Day 6: Prepositions - Where - When - Relationship - Problem expressions - Preposition look-alikes - Infinitives Day 7: Conjunctions - Coordinating conjunctions - Correlative conjunctions - Subordinating conjunctions - Conjunctive adverbs Day 8: Interjections - Emotion - Tone - Emphasis As well as the main 8 parts of speech, we will also be learning the following aspects as applicable within the lessons of the 8 parts of speech: - Basic Sentence Structure - Sentence Fragments - Run-on Sentences and Comma Splices - Sentence Type and Purpose - Independent and Dependent Clauses: Coordination and Subordination - Subject Verb Agreement - Consistent Verb Tense - Other Phrases: Verbal, Appositive, Absolute - Pronoun Reference - Relative Pronouns: Restrictive and Nonrestrictive Clauses - Avoiding Modifier Problems - Transitions - Would, Should, Could - Achieving Parallelism - Definite and Indefinite Articles - Two-Word Verbs

Learners will master the 8 parts of speech by practicing their grammar during class and in between classes.

Parental Guidance
- Websites listed under "Sources" are for the teacher to access for curriculum and material.
- The learners do NOT need to access anything on the internet outside of Outschool for this class.
- I use Google Slides in this class.
- When beneficial, I will post YouTube videos in the classroom for extra learning in between classes during the week.
Supply List
- Learners will need paper and pens or pencils to write with to complete tasks. - Relevant handouts will be uploaded at the start of the week to the classroom to be printed out ahead of classes, including but not limited to cloze passages, word searches, and alike.

I am a native English speaker with a 150-hour TESOL qualification from Arizona State University and post-graduate qualifications in Applied Linguistics from Monash University.
I am also a lawyer in Australia and I homeschool my own children, therefore speaking and teaching clearly have been a part of my life for many years, and now I am also applying these skills to teaching others.
