This 12-week class provides a strong introductory overview (or a good, solid review) of basic grammar skills. As an ongoing class, students have the freedom to attend every class or choose to attend specific ones for topics that need extra practice. In each class, we will discover how the words in our language fit together. We will learn to identify the parts of speech and the functions of individual words in a sentence. Students will learn to identify the 8 Parts of Speech and how to identify phrases and clauses within sentences. They will be able to recognize basic sentence types. They will learn to identify the functions of words and phrases in sentences and be able to place each word and phrase into a sentence diagram. They will use all of this knowledge to write their own interesting and descriptive sentences.
