Class Experience
Together we will begin playing in the Faber "Piano Adventures Level 1 Book". The students have been doing a fantastic job! The students are getting more and more comfortable playing with both hands and their identification of notes on the piano is always improving. The method is fantastic and when combined with supplementary activities , I believe it is an amazing start to piano education! Mid-week video uploads and feedback will help encourage your student to stay engaged between...
In this class we will: - We will earn new hand positions - We will expand on our note reading abilities, getting very comfortable with notes from C3 to C5 and moving into more songs with both hands playing at the same time and even playing different notes! - We will continue to play along with duets to develop their ensemble playing skills in an online format. - We will continue to get more comfortable reading 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures. - We will continue to practice identifying steps and skips and recognizing patterns to help with music reading.
I have been a private piano teaching for over 10 years to children ages 4-17. I have just completed my Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary and I have my Masters in Music from Indiana University. I have extensive experience teaching and working with those with diverse needs as a Community Care Aid (10 years), Music teacher (10 years) and ESL teacher (3 years) and I welcome all students in my classroom!
Students will be asked to participate in a voluntary video upload homework assignment every week between classes. This will be a song or part of a song they can upload for the teacher to listen to and give feedback on to help guide practice for the rest of the week. I will assign practice material for all students to practice each week. Some weeks might also include theory worksheets and activities. All homework is optional.
