What's included

Class Experience

This is a FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE COURSE that uses pre-recorded videos instead of live video meetings. This course is meant to follow "Part 4 - Flexible Schedule - Let's Make Disney Music! - Piano Lessons". We will build on the knowledge learned in the previous classes as well and learn several classical songs. Over the course of this 4 week period the students will learn and build upon the skills they have previously been taught. If your learner has not taken classes with me before, they just need a strong foundation of basic note reading in the middle C position, and basic theory understanding - quarter notes, whole notes, half notes, time signatures etc.
In this course students will get more familiar with reading sheet music by sight, learn about 8va, sharps, and more complicated musical sentences.
I ask my students to commit to practicing every song at least 3 times per day. Students MUST have a keyboard or piano to make this class worthwhile. Students must print the attached files before class.

Week One -
"Fur Elise"
Introduce sharps
Introduce 8va

Week Two -
"Minuet in G"
Discuss the rhythm and unique features of this song

Week Three -
"Mozart's Sonata"
New sharps
8va review

Week Four-
"Burleske"
Discuss time signature
Discuss note values

I will post pre-recorded videos to the class page weekly along with personalized video clips as needed. Students can interact with each other through chats and the posting of video clips throughout the course. Students are asked to participate and interact by posting videos or recordings of themselves performing the songs each week, if they are comfortable doing so. I will then send personalized feedback to them via video.

Learning Goals

Students will learn to play several popular Classical tunes, and further their musical ability and build their theory skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm so happy you stopped by my profile! I am currently a homeschooling mom, and have been a music teacher for half my life (16 years - you do the math;).

Music has the ability to strengthen the connection beween the body and the brain to help them work together as a team, which is why I incorporate music into a lot of my classes.
The more pathways a student uses for learning something new, the more pathways they have for retrieval of the information. Because of this, I utilize multisensory techniques.

My teaching style is "I tell you, you tell me, you show me".
As per one of my favorite quotes - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

I offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My classes are thorough and time efficient, but I also work at the students pace to be sure they are grasping the concepts as we move along.
