Together we will continue to play through the beginning songs of the Faber "Piano Adventures Primer Book". The students have been doing a fantastic job! The students are getting more and more comfortable playing with both hands and their identification of notes on the piano is always improving. The method is fantastic and when combined with supplementary activities (including lots of composing!), I believe it is an amazing start to piano education! Mid-week video uploads and feedback will help encourage your student to stay engaged between sessions. *Note: this class is best for students who have already taken "Part 3: Piano Class for Young Beginners", we have already played through a lot of the book. If you would like to find out if this in an appropriate class for your child, please reach out. During the class we will learn several songs together. The students are able to view my hands playing the keys through an additional camera. We will practice learning songs slowly together. We will also work in the theory book with the activities associated with songs we are learning. Each class will have a mini concert where students can showcase what they have been practicing. Between classes, students will periodically be given duets to play along with. They will also be assigned voluntary "homework" that they can submit to me for feedback between our classes together.
Learning Goals
In this class we will:
- We will earn new hand positions.
- We will expand on our note reading abilities, getting very comfortable with notes from C3 to C5 and moving into more songs with both hands playing at the same time.
- We will continue to play along with duets to develop their ensemble playing skills in an online format.
- We will continue to get more comfortable reading 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures.
- We will continue to practice identifying steps and skips and recognizing patterns to help with music reading.
