In this FLEX class, learners will learn letter names and letter sounds through teacher led videos, crafts, scavenger hunts, and other fun interactive activities. Learners will also receive a letter worksheet to practice recognizing uppercase and lowercase letters, letter formation, and beginning sounds through pictures. Learners may complete this worksheet independently, or along with the teacher during the video. We will learn 2 new letters each week. Because this is a FLEX class, there...
Students will improve their recognition of the letters of the alphabet, their beginning sounds, and words associated with these sounds. Students will also use critical thinking skills to think about words that begin with the letters and find things around them that begin with different letter sounds. Students will improve their fine motor skills by drawing, coloring inside the lines, cutting along the lines, pasting, and writing their letters.
A printer will be needed to print off a craft and worksheet for each letter. The crafts consist of 2 pages and there is at minimum 1 letter worksheet to be completed. I do have extra practice worksheets and activities that I will provide for each letter that can be printed and the children may complete if they would like. The materials needed for the crafts are everyday items that you probably already have at home. Materials needed are: - 1 sheet of construction paper (any color is fine) - pencil - colored pencils/markers/crayons - glue - scissors - printables that will be provided to you
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Because this class is focused around younger students, parents should be prepared to assist the child as needed. Parents/Guardians may want to be near to help with cutting and pasting during the craft portion of class if your learner needs help with these activities. Parental guidance is definitely recommended with the use of scissors.
