During this first part of a 12-week series, the student will be learning about photography history, types of cameras in history, framing, the subject, and his or her own camera's basic shooting modes. This is meant to be the first part of a 12 week course and each additional part of the course will be linked in the description below and will need to be signed up individually for each of the 3 parts of the his 12-week course. This is for the beginner who does not need to have any experience...
The student will learn about photography history, types of cameras in history, framing, the subject, and his or her own camera's basic shooting modes.
There will be photography assignments after each class and due before the next class. It's highly recommended to participate. If your learner needs a letter grade, this can be done, however the homework is required. The homework will be posted in the classroom and the students can upload their homework under each post.
1 file available upon enrollmentCAMERA: A digital DSLR camera is highly recommended, however, a camera from a smart phone will also work. Our classes will have photo taking assignments. LIGHTROOM MOBILE APP: (only for phone cameras) This app is highly recommended as we will be learning settings in our Digital DSLR and they also have most of those settings in this app that your student can use so he or she will still be learning along with us. It is $4.99 monthly after a 7 day free trial. See the link under materials. BINDER OR FOLDER: Also there will be notes with fill-in-the-blank areas that your student may find really helpful for class. I recommend printing them and putting them in a folder or binder to support learning. EDITING PROGRAMS: There is a free editing program usually inside the editing programs in your typical computer and I suggest looking there first for one. For the last part in the series, an editing program is needed. If your student already has the Lightroom Mobile App then your student does not need anything else as there is a built in editing program. Gimp is free and there are free tutorials in YouTube that will be used. Lightroom desktop or laptop version is $19.99 a month after a free trial. I only recommend choosing this one if you can see your student using it more after the semester is over.
If a learner would like a grade, the teacher must know within the first 3 classes. Also, the student will be graded on participation and homework assignments completed.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
I am utilizing Spark, an Adobe product, through screen share only, to create my presentations for class. I am also using YouTube videos that either I created or that already exist on the platform. I be sure to keep them all kid friendly. I also don't show the whole video and just pick out sections that support my teaching. Also the Lightroom Mobile App is a phone camera app that is a camera as well as an editing tool. I recommend the camera app because it offers shutter speed, exposure, white balance, and ISO options. The app currently has a 7 day free trial, then it's $4.99 a month. If you do not want to use this app, feel free to find another one with the options listed is possible. It is highly recommended but not required.
