In this weekly beginner French conversation club that does not build on itself, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice essential pieces of French conversation that are perfect for travel or for building the blocks of conversation. Students MUST have some French experience before joining this class, as the basics will not be taught. A suggestion is to have the students take my Level 1 French classes first to ensure they have covered things like numbers, food, colours, animals, etc. If you are unsure if your student is a good fit for this class, please contact me. This class will be taught using Google Slides so that students can see a visual of the conversation and how the conversational phrases are written as well as spoken. This class will be near-immersive. This means there will be English used in the introductions, but students will be encouraged to speak in French throughout the class. Clarifications will be provided in English as needed (for example, I may tell the students: "Comment dit-on means "How do you say..." in English but the students will repeat the phrase in French. The goal of this class is to allow students to get used to speaking French and asking and answering questions. Some examples of converation skills that will be practiced are: - Yes and no questions - Where is ..... - My name is .... - I am from .... - Directions - Time phrases - How much is this? Each student will be encouraged to engage with the teacher and their peers, so a working microphone is required for this class. I do have a strict muting policy and require that students remain on mute when they are not speaking so it is easier for students to hear and understand me throughout class.
Learning Goals
In this class, students will learn essential pieces of French phrases.
