Learners will review the different types of transitional words and connect ideas between sentences. This is an essential step for becoming better writers and being able to express ideas clearly and cohesively in a paragraph.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Prerequisite: Learners should already know how to write simple, complex, and compound structures. 

Class Structure (4-week flex class with non-live instructional videos): 

- Learners will complete 4 different writing tasks in 4 weeks following the pre-determined schedule. 

- Learners will watch one or more instructional videos each week related to transitional words/phrases and writing sentences using the target language.

- Learners will submit their individual assignments to the teacher for feedback. 

- Weekly handouts for the writing activities will be provided each week.

- The teacher will provide written feedback to each student after the weekly tasks are graded.

Learning Goals

- Learners will learn to use transitional words/phrases to connect ideas between sentences. In particular, students will work on fine-tuning the flow between sentences to better express their ideas. By week 4, learners will write a cohesive paragraph using the target language. 

- Learners will also be able to practice a variety of learning strategies including attention to detail, organizational skills, time management, self-discipline, proper communication and etc.

- If learners would like to complete the tasks by hand, they can print the handouts, complete by hand, and take a picture for submission. 

- If learners don't have a printer and would like to complete the tasks by hand, they can use their own paper, and take a picture for submission.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
