Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Is your learner overwhelmed by the thought of organizing thoughts and writing a paragraph? Do you have a younger learner who loves to write? This course is perfect for either student! In this semester long class your learner will gain confidence in their writing skills in a fun, easy to follow manner. Students will learn the three types of paragraphs: opinion, informative, and narrative. With fun writing prompts that kids enjoy, learners will love writing in no time! I teach the same step-by-step organization method for each paragraph type. Learners will complete a paragraph from start to finish every week. On day one of each week we will brainstorm, organize and put together a draft of a mock paragraph as a class so that they can see each step. Then students will be released to work on their own. On day two when we meet, we will work on editing, revising, and writing a final draft. Students may finalize their draft on their own time and turn it in at the end of the week. It is my hope that paragraph writing will become less scary and organized in a way that makes sense to each learner. Students may turn in to me a draft of their paragraph if they would like help with editing. Students will need to turn in their final drafts by the due date posted in class at the end of each week. Worksheets will be posted in the classroom for each class to be printed out and used during and after class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am excited to meet you! I am an enthusiastic teacher and believe learning should be fun. Learning is enhanced for a child when it is presented in a context made relative to their interests.

I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. I have taught children for over 15 years. My background includes teaching EFL online to learners aged 4-16 as well as teaching preschool.

I live near Seattle, Washington with my husband and two children. We also have a Siberian Husky, two tuxedo cats, two ferrets, a leopard gecko and a crested gecko. Outside of teaching, I love cooking, volunteering at my children's school and traveling with my family. I look forward to fun and creativity with your child in my classroom!
