Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
My name is Mr. Kris and I live in my hometown of Las Vegas, NV! Together you and I will explore more than just facts, numbers, and figures. We will learn how to navigate your young lives using the knowledge that you gain throughout your academic career and adolescents. For our middle and high schoolers, I will teach classes on managing stress at your age, identifying when to ask for help, navigating life as a teenager, test-taking and note-taking skills, preparing for life after high school and much more. For our elementary school-age students, I will be teaching on rounding, reading comprehension, and preparing for the next stages of their academic journey.
I began my training in working with youth when I myself was only 16 years old. By the time I had reached the end of my high school years, I was already teaching various classes after school to kids ages 6-12. When I graduated I joined a performing arts company started by those working closely with the late Dr. Maya Angelou. We traveled the country performing, learning, and experiencing all that life on the road had to offer. After a few years of performing and traveling, I settled in Philadelphia, PA where I was the assistant program director of the Boys and Girls Club. In that role, I held classes, workshops, and camps in areas ranging from life skills, SAT prep, and other areas that the traditional school curriculum doesn't teach. Unfortunately, a family tragedy called me back home to Las Vegas, NV where I continued my work in teenage mental health and life skills as the Clinical Program Director for a residential treatment facility. I also hold workshops and classes around the Las Vegas Valley. When I am not teaching I enjoy running a non-profit performing arts company and traveling to Disneyland with my family.
My goal is to give you the tools needed to be the best you can be all while learning. I offer classes in life skills, acting, arts & crafts, SAT and ACT prep, Math, Science, Social Studies, and much more.
