In this one time course, students will learn the simplest way to start and continue a snake knot using paracord. This versatile knot can be used to make great bracelets, collars and leashes for pets, lanyards and keyrings and more!

Class experience

Students will learn to begin and continue a snake knot (Tibetan style) to create a bracelet, wrist band, or keyring.
I have been braiding and knotting paracord and macrame projects for decades, starting when I was going to summer camp as a camper, then later as a counselor, and even as program director. I love challenging myself to learn new and more complex knots and skills. I am also an ACE certified teacher here at Outschool and a state certified teacher.
Homework Offered
Homework may involve completing the project, additional finishing of the paracord project need to be sealed with the help of an adult, and instructions will be provided in the class for that.

Grades Offered
Students will need a 10 ft length of paracord and a buckle or keyring.
I highly recommend a small paracord bundle for beginners like this one from amazon that usually costs $10 or so. https://www.amazon.com/WEREWOLVES-Paracord-Bracelet-Crafting-Instruction/dp/B09BKJLX2P/ref=sr_1_34?crid=3434I0BKDAZES&keywords=paracord&qid=1667027286&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI3LjE3IiwicXNhIjoiNi43NyIsInFzcCI6IjYuNTUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=paracord%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-34
This doesn't provide military quality paracord, but it is perfect for friendship bracelet making and beginners. If students remain interested and get more serious, higher quality paracord and survival bracelets can be considered.
Parents will need to assist in finishing the paracord bracelet by warming the ends of the paracord using something hot, like a lighter or candle to singe the ends of the cording. Guidance and instructions will be provided. This will prevent the bracelets from fraying during use.
