In this one-time class, students will learn to make a paper weaving using strips of colored paper.

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this one-time class, students will learn to weave strips of colored paper together to create a patterned weaving and a small basket. We will start by looking at examples of weaving patterns and discussing how it relates to foundational art (color theory, balance, composition, pattern), and by cutting our pieces of colored paper into strips. We will create a “loom” from a single piece of construction paper and weave our flat strips into it to create our pattern. When finished, we will share...
Analyze pattens and understand how to create them through weaving. Create two- and three-dimensional art. Connect to the ideas of color theory and foundational art.
This is one of my favorite workshops to teach! I have taught this activity with a variety of age groups in the past.
Scissors Colored paper (ideally construction paper) Gluestick or clear tape Optional: Ruler Markers, colored pencils, etc
